Oscar Nominations 2014

Oscars

Hot on the heels of the BAFTA nominations come the nods for the Academy Awards. Are there any surprises? Not really – but there are a few notable absences.

Tom Hanks is nowhere to be seen, despite strong performances in both Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks. Screenwriter favourite Kelly Marcel also misses out this year.

The frontrunners in the most part are American Hustle and Gravity, both with ten nominations apiece, and 12 Years A Slave, with nine.

And yes, Jonah Hill is now “Twice Academy Award-nominee Jonah Hill.”

Who do you think is most deserving of the awards? Place your bets below, and find out on March 2.
